FEMALE ARTIST SUBMISSIONS ONLY
We are a structured collective devoted to the examination and study of art and politics from a female perspective and that by making art, our identities as women play a huge role. We hope that Warriors Within will stimulate great dialogue and writing, encourage healing, and generate new creative bonds among women. It is a place where diversity can be articulated as we broaden and define the function of art in today's climate.
The purpose of this series is to replace our everyday feelings of shame, guilt, or doubt as women, and reawaken our long-suppressed vision for our own life. This forces us to confront the one thing we fear most (which is our own power) and knowing when and how to use it in a strong but healthy manner. The goal is to be able to give visual clarity and spiritually identify, within yourself and others, how each woman warrior heals, awakens, challenges, connects, and above all….loves.
This collective embodies warriors that address death and rebirth, retrieval of female intuition, wild flesh and body, sacred sexuality, nurturing creative life, fertility (the ability to give life), and returning to self in an ongoing mission of preservation. All of these warriors play a key role in our survival and in our mental health. They only rise within us when we need them most.
As a collective, we are writing and/or visually creating these warriors through the interior of our unique experiences, with hopes that it will offer gems of perception and an account for a different way of thinking. This process of identifying each warrior and dropping our awareness into that consciousness can offer women great strength and undeniable stamina while navigating forward with wisdom – not only for this generation but also for generations to come.
We are not committed to any particular style or aesthetic, nor to the competitive mentality that pervades the art world. Our view is that of HEALING CHANGE, and we feel that we can foster change in the meaning of art.
Respect the contributions of all without assessing participation.
Any self-identifying womxn can participate.
